Overview
We are seeking candidates who bring an eye for innovation to work on design, development, and fashioning of our state of the art knitted products.
This position requires a basic knowledge of knit construction and a desire to learn and build on those skills in order to apply them to technical knitting applications.  Work on Stoll CMS is preferable as is experience with M1+ programming.  There is a degree of fashion involved, including blending aesthetics with the functional aspects of product design.
Candidate should be highly organized and possess a professional attitude.
The candidate must have a desire to learn new things, contribute to projects, and be able to accept and build on the ideas of others.
Note that this position will require operating the machines, tying up yarns and experimenting with fabrications.  This is not a Photoshop or fashion illustration position, but rather a hands-on machine R&D position.
Responsibilities
This position works closely with marketing to understand the creative vision of each project and translate design concepts into 3D product in working closely with technical knit engineering. This position also translates and/or communicates design concepts to generate 2D patterns on a Stoll CAD system to build proportional lines, marketing fit requirements and production construction feasibility.  The right person collaborates with both the marketing team and technical knit engineer to interpret and clarify each design concept.  This position combines design, product merchandising and technical manufacturing to effectively launch advanced technical product development fabrications and products. 
The ideal candidate will help develop and translate concepts, while providing recommendations to knit engineering to resolve fabric issues to create consistency of manufacturing. This position represents the marketing team in decision-making related to aesthetics of design and will create and communicate CAD revisions, incorporating design and fit changes.   Hands on M1+ Stoll CAD will be a must. 
Qualifications
 Required skills:
  • Not intimidated by textile machinery
  • Knowledge of knit construction
  • Yarn construction knowledge
  • Fiber science
  • Technical sketching – loop drawings
  • Ability to apply production specifications & work between cross-functional teams
  • Ability to research, analyze and interpret design elements into knit constructions
  • Proper knit terminology & clearly communicate
  • Desire to learn and collaborate as part of a design team and adapt
  • Support the design team concepts

Preferred skills:
  • M1+
  • Stoll CMS Flat Knitting or Shima
  • Mechanical aptitude
